Teacher Professional Development

A large part of this project was a sequence of ten 2 hour professional development seesions offered to South Australian teachers through the LUMAT 2002 program. LUMAT 2002 was designed and delivered by The Noel Baker Centre for School Mathematics and funded by Casio Australia. The sessions aimed to give teachers comtemporary training in learning strategies sutiable for the statistics theory in the new SACE Stage Two mathematics courses.

Teachers responded overwhelming to this free, quality professional development. The sessions began in term three of 2002 and ended in December 2002. Most sessions were offered at five different times, with full day sessions being offered at two different times.

The sessions were so popular that long waiting lists existed. The sessions were rerun in a 'two full day' format in May 2003.
